The 49-year-old lived in ‘squalid drug-den’ conditions in the £50million mansion where wife Eva was found on Monday after dying of a suspected overdose.
The £4.5billion Tetra Pak drinks heir had earlier been held on suspicion of possessing drugs and remains under arrest while he is treated at a secure hospital - with sources saying he could remain there for several days.
Police are said to be examining CCTV footage to get a clearer idea of the couple's movements - as well as those of anyone entering or leaving their six-storey home in Belgravia, London.
A friend of the family said yesterday the couple lived in ‘total squalor’ in just two rooms of the house, and had become increasingly reclusive in recent months.

‘It was really messy. You wouldn’t believe they were billionaires,’ the friend said.
'They couldn't look after themselves or the house. They only used two rooms despite having dozens. It's very sad indeed.'
Mother of four Mrs Rausing, 48, was living in what one friend described as a ‘twilight world of addiction’.
Police are still treating her death as ‘unexplained’, with further toxicology tests being carried out to try and determine the cause.
The Rausings, whose four children are aged between 11 and 17, both battled addiction and in 2008 were arrested after Eva was caught with drugs as she tried to enter the US embassy in London.
Following her 2008 arrest, court documents revealed Mrs Rausing was carrying crack cocaine, heroin and diethylpropion, a banned stimulant. She said after she was ‘ashamed’ of her actions.
Despite their troubles the couple were well-known and respected philanthropists, who supported a number of charities working in sport, the arts and addiction.
Mrs Rausing was a patron of one such charity, The Mentor Foundation, which gives support to young people struggling with substance abuse.
