Jurors were shown footage of the moment the newspaper vendor was shoved to the ground by Pc Harwood at the G20 protests in London three years ago.

The 47-year-old's widow Julia and stepson Paul King cried as a clip was shown of a medical student trying to resuscitate him as he lay on the pavement with his eyes closed.

Mr Tomlinson died in hospital when he collapsed after walking 70m after the contact with Pc Harwood in the City of London in April 2009.

Jurors at Southwark Crown Court were shown a clip by prosecution barrister Mark Dennis QC of Pc Harwood, 45, from Carshalton, Surrey, adopting a 'strike' position with his baton as Mr Tomlinson stood with his back to him.

At the time of the video Pc Harwood - wearing a balaclava and a riot helmet - is standing among a group of dog handlers and police officers in riot gear.

After Mr Tomlinson hits the ground a passer-by is seen helping him up before he walks away.

Separate footage showing Mr Tomlinson's movements as he approached a police cordon near Bank before being turned away on his way home to Smithfield was also shown.

Pc Harwood denies manslaughter on the grounds he used reasonable force.

The trial continues.
