The news was reported by the club's own television channel, LFC TV, but the report - which was pulled halfway through its transmission - has not been carried by the club's website.
Suarez has scored 21 goals in 49 starts for Liverpool, having arrived at Anfield from Ajax for nearly £23 million in January 2011.
And although the 25-year-old has become an Anfield favourite, he has also endured a tumultuous 18 months at the club, following an eight-game ban for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
The saga continued when he chose not to shake Evra's hand during United's visit to Anfield in February, with the club's owners Fenway Sports subsequently apologising for the behaviour.
His manager from the time - Kenny Dalglish - stood by the striker, but following his dismissal and the arrival of new boss Brendan Rodgers, it was reported that Suarez had become a target of several clubs, including big-spending Paris St Germain and Juventus.
Suarez recently returned to the Premier League side's Melwood training ground having represented Uruguary during the London 2012 Olympic Games tournament.
