Decathlete Ashton Eaton (Eugene, Ore.) set a new world record at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field after recording 9,039 points on June 23 in Eugene, Ore. Sanya Richards-Ross (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) also set a world record, running the 400-meter dash in 49.28. In addition to Eaton and Richards-Ross, 19 other athletes earned nominations to London on the opening days of trials.
