World's fastest Biedermann misses Olympic swim mark

Reported by France 24 on Friday, 11 May 2012 (on May 11, 2012)

World 200m freestyle record-holder Paul Biedermann fell short of the Olympic qualifying mark on Friday at the German trials, while Olympic 100m freestyle champion Britta Steffen has hit form.

"That didn't go as planned, I thought I would go much faster," said the 25-year-old Biedermann, whose time in Friday's heats of 1mins 48.22sec was more than half a second short of the qualifying time for London.

"Now I have to stretch myself, because it still has to happen," he added ahead of Friday night's 200m freestyle final.
