Consumers and businesses that need to send parcels to parts of the UK likely to be affected by the 2012 Olympic Games can turn to online parcel delivery specialist Parcel2Go for help and advice.
As part of efforts to help customers minimise the effect that the Games will have on business and personal correspondence, Parcel2Go has launched a dedicated information page that will carry details of any service updates for the duration of the the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Delivery times to addresses in certain parts of London, as well as to destinations close to Olympic venues across Britain, are set to be affected until the end of the Paralympic Games on September 9. Parking restrictions, permanent and temporary road closures, and increased congestion are all likely to have an impact on journey times over the coming weeks, although following Monday morning's rush-hour, transport bosses said people appeared to be heeding calls to avoid the busiest routes.
A chart detailing service restrictions for postcodes across Greater London can be accessed through Parcel2Go's service updates page .
Richard Mercer, marketing director at Parcel2Go, said: "Anyone planning to ship parcels to areas close to where Olympic events are taking place should be mindful of the potential for delays to courier companies . Hopefully our London 2012 service updates page will make it a little easier for businesses and individual consumers to work out if their parcel deliveries are likely to be affected, and if so, to what extent.
"With an event of this scale the situation on the ground is changing constantly, but for the duration of the Games, Parcel2Go will endeavour to bring customers the very latest information. Of course, parcel tracking facilities available through the site will also play a major role in keeping service users informed as to the whereabouts of their packages."
Parcelforce, FedEx and City Link tracking services are all available through Parcel2Go's website.
