British Want A Chip Butty For The Olympics

British people are politely requesting that McDonalds take on one of their traditional meals.

In a facebook campaign released today, British McDonalds fans are asking the company to take on one of their traditionals meals and provide an equivalent to the traditional "Chip Butty" for the olympics.

What is a chip butty?

In Britain, they have chip shops. These usually sell a big greasy pile of chips (fries) along with battered sausages and fish. A chip butty (also known as a chip buttie, or chip barm) is simply a big pile of greasy chip shop chips in between two slices of bread, usually with tomato ketchup. Nearly all Britons will have eaten a chip butty at some point in their lives.

What would a McChip Butty look like?

If a McChip Butty were to be created, it look something like
McChip Butty , though the larger version would be likely to look like
Big McChip Butty.

Time will tell if the British get their way.

Could it happen?

The request is would actually be quite easy for McDonalds to do. They have the chips, they have the buns. Usually the Brits would add some butter too. Seems easy enough to arrange. So all in all, it would seem that Yes - it could be done!

Would this mean the end of the traditional chippie?

It would seem unlikely that such an event would see the end of the tradtional British chip shop. For one thing, the Scottish would insist on everything being battered, and that might pose some health questions a large corporation might not want to answer. Local chippies are also much more widespread across the UK than McDonalds and can survive on a much smaller customer base.

All in all, the McChip Butty would be a great addition to the London Olympics and would be a fun addition to the event.
