The Geordie singer had wowed on the red carpet in the French city just hours earlier but she gave up the glitz and glamour of the prestigious film festival to put her friends first.
After a whirlwind 48 hours in Cannes, Cheryl flew out of France back to London in a mad rush to be in the West End to see her Girls Aloud band member give her final performance as Princess Fiona in top London musical Shrek.

Kimberley, 30, also had the support of Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding on the night, while fifth bandmate Nadine Coyle was nowhere to be seen.
It was clear Kimberley was happy when Cheryl arrived, albeit in the interval, as she happily posed for photos in her dressing room with her pal.

Cheryl turned up in skinny grey jeans, a colourful print top and a white jacket while Walsh cuddled up to her for the photos in her Shrek attire, consisting of a bright green dress and gold tiara.
The 28-year-old Call My Name singer had wowed crowds at Cannes the day before when she melted into the red carpet in a stunning white and red feathered dress as she attended the premiere of Michael Haneke's new film Amour (Love).

She wore the Stephane Rolland Haute Couture fishtail gown with a matching red bag and her brunette hair down.
Cheryl's feet were lost in the red feathered train of the otherwise white gown, which exuded Cannes glamour.

But Cheryl made sure not to steal Kimberley's well-deserved limelight last night during her rare evening out as she hid in the shadows leaving Walsh to lap up the attention.
KImberley, who first appeared as Princess Fiona in September, emerged after the show in a stunning black sequin dress with her hair scraped into a glamorous up-do.

Before continuing her night with her pals at Vanilla club, she made sure to take the time to pose for photos with fans waiting outside the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and sign autographs.
The girls then left in taxis to continue celebrations.

Kimberley had the backing of her girls when she started at Shrek back in September as Cheryl and Nicola cheered her on from the crowds but this time she also had Sarah's support.
While Sarah looked gorgeous in a yellow fitted dress with black polka dots, Nicola opted for a more casual look in a bright blue off-the-shoulder dress teamed with a denim waistcoat.

And it's clear Kimberley was more than happy with how her final night went too as she tweeted after arriving home: 'Going to sleep very thankful for all the amazing people I have in me life *smiling*.'
Carly Stenson now replaces Kimberley as Princess Fiona in Shrek.
